Children’s University is an international organisation that provides 7-14 year olds (and 5&6 year olds with their families) to access exciting and innovative learning activities outside of the normal school day. These can be activities that we do as a school for example any of our after school clubs, lunch time clubs or breakfast club. They can also be locally run clubs that your child already attends such as scouts, brownies etc.
As well as these clubs there are also lots of learning destinations around the country that you may already take your child too that can earn them some learning hours. All they have to do is take their passport and have it stamped by the organisation.
For every hour that they do at a learning destination (in or out of school) they earn a stamp and once they have 30 stamps they will earn their first certificate! They then work towards 100 stamps and once they receive this they will be invited to a bronze graduation ceremony at Warwick University. They then continue to work to their silver and gold which goes up to 400 hours.
Our First Experience
On Saturday 22nd November, Mrs Diaz and Mrs Barrass took 16 of the Children's University to The Library of Birmingham University for an exciting workshop to explore what the arts are. The children had the opportunity to learn about the different arts and take part in activities to show their understanding of what these are, for example art, dance and drama.
The children were all brilliantly behaved and had a fantastic morning out together, we hope to do many more days like this in the future.
