As many of you are aware, the whole of Camp Hill Primary have been creating work on Online Safety. This work was shown in an assembly to parents. Here are some of the videos we made using the PuppetPals app on our new iPads.
Year 5 have been very busy. They have been to Compton Verney and had a Viking Experience Day. During the day the children were given the opportunity to live like a Viking and experience what it would be like to live like them for the day.
Children in Camp Hill were very lucky as they had the opportunity to use VR (virtual reality) headsets courtesy of Google Expeditions. Children in Year 5 were able to experience a Viking battle and celebration using the headsets.
During April Year 5 have been learning about cyber bullying and kind online. We worked with Year 6 to look at the causes and effects of cyber bullying.
The local PCSOs came in to speak to us about being safe in Camp Hill and how we should look after everyone in the community.
World book day was on the 2nd March and, as a school, we celebrated with a 'Bedtime Stories' theme. All children and staff were invited to come to school dressed ready for bed and bring their favourite bedtime story along with them. In year 5, we spent the entire day on book themed activities such as making accordion books and having a story book quiz. At the end of the day we all settled down on the carpet for a bedtime story.
For homework, the children were asked to research Vikings and prepare a presentation to teach the rest of the class what they had found out. Here are some photographs of these wonderful presentations.
The children have been busy designing and making Shakespearian puppet theatres. Here are some fantastic examples!
This week the children have been creating board games aimed at year 2 children. The board games needed to involve year 2 appropriate maths skills and be fun and exciting. Here are a few of the games we made, can you tell which well known board games they were based on?
To celebrate and learn about our topic 'Space' we visited the National Space Centre, Leicester. The children enjoyed it very much and we all learnt a lot! Here are some photographs of our time there.
The children have been making some great toys inspired by the Titanic. They designed them from start to finish and had to problem solve along the way. Here are just a few of the finished products.
WELCOME TO YEAR 5!
We are pleased to welcome all the children into year 5 and have already had a lot of fun in our classes over the first few weeks of school.
Our topic this term is the Titanic and the children have really got stuck into researching this both in school and at home. We have had some fantastically detailed homework explaining everything they have found out and within our topic lessons we have began to piece this information together to make a fact file. We have taken some photographs of this wonderful work to share with you below. Keep up the great work children!
