Caterpillars

Welcome to

The Caterpillars 2 year old room

at

Camp Hill Primary school Nursery.

About us

Caterpillars is all about spending time away from home, building relationships and friendships with others, learning to become independent and building on the children’s interests and experiences.
We offer a very small and supportive environment which promotes learning in a calm and relaxed way.

September in Caterpillars

This month we welcomed lots of new children and families in to caterpillars. It was a pleasure to meet them all and spend time getting to know them all.
We can’t wait to have lots of adventures together.

October in Caterpillars

During October we had lots of fun getting to know the children properly. The children started to build relationships with each other and settle in to the routine of nursery.

The children started to enjoy reading and sharing stories and staff found out that they all love to paint, mark make and explore messy play.

On Wednesdays the children and staff started to go outside and take part in welly Wednesdays.

We also invited all of the families in to nursery to eat cake together and raise money for McMillan.

November in Caterpillars

This month then children in Caterpillars were very interested in Halloween and Bonfire night. They spent time exploring pumpkins and talking about ghosts. They also made some using the things we could find in the creative area and learning how to use some of the things such as the tape and glue.

The children and staff also took part in World Nursery rhyme week. We sang 5 different songs during the week as well as explored these songs in our play. At the end of the week the children were all given a special nursery rhyme song bag to take home and share with their families.

We also took part in raising money for children in need. We talked to the children about how Pudsey bear was very kind and liked to make people happy. We tried to be just like Pudsey bear, making people happy by taking them pictures and sweets.
Also during November we supported the England footballers in the World Cup.

This month the children extended their love of books and together we read the Gingerbread Man. We had a go at making our own gingerbread people and ate them at snack time.

December in Caterpillars

This month the children in Caterpillars celebrated Christmas.
Together we decorated the Christmas trees, explored Christmas traditions and sang songs together.
The children talked to the staff about Santa and gifts and the big man himself even came to visit us bringing gifts.

The Caterpillars joined in with their very first nativity and performed it like professionals to their families. They all dressed up as toy soldiers and even had their 5 minutes of fame on the stage all on their own.

On the last day of term we all came together to have an amazing Christmas dinner with crackers to pull and ice cream for pudding.
