As you may or may not be aware, the DfE have recently released new guidelines on the teaching of Health and Relationship education in primary and secondary schools. These guidelines will be statutory for all schools in the UK as of 2020. As a result of this, we are updating how we teach this subject.
As a school, we have enrolled in a new initiative led by Public Health Warwickshire called All About Me, which provides a comprehensive scheme of lessons, from Reception all the way to year 6, covering everything the children need to know about this incredibly important subject.
We appreciate that it is vital you are kept up to date with everything your child will be taught, therefore we are hosting a parent meeting on Thursday 20th June 2019, 9am-10am in the school hall, where a member of staff from the All About Me programme will be presenting the key facts, and will be available to answer any questions you may have. As well as this, there is a website exclusively for parents and carers, where you can access the lesson plans and resources that will be used. Please see the link to this website below.
Our school policy regarding Health and Relationship Education can also be found in the policy section of the school website, if you wish to read more about our whole school approach regarding this subject.
Please also see below, a year group specific fact sheet providing you with detailed information about the lessons to be taught. These lessons will be taught across the school, week commencing 1st July 2019 so if you wish to speak to your child/children before then, please feel free to do so.
We hope you will join us in embracing this modern and increasingly relevant subject matter, as we as a school feel very strongly that all children should receive up to date and accurate information on their own health and wellbeing.
If you have any concerns or queries, please feel free to contact the school office and book an appointment with either Mrs Barrass or Miss Wray (the lead teacher for this subject).
