Hi Everyone! The teachers in Year 3 are Miss Squires and Miss Gilbey. We are very lucky to have three very experienced teaching assistants in our year group as well; Mrs Thomas, Mrs Smalley and Miss Broughton
Year 3 is the first year in Key Stage 2 so it is a very exciting year! First and foremost, we will be learning lots of new and exciting things in our topics of Ancient Egypt, Mayans, The Stone Age and the Rainforest.

Our science topics cover; animals and the human body, healthy eating, light and shadow, rocks and soils, forces and magnets and plants.

3ES have swimming every Monday.

3LG have PE every Monday.

Homework and spellings will go home on a Friday and be returned on a Tuesday.

Don't forget to log onto Bug Club and Times Table Rockstars to be in with a chance of receiving a certificate during Special Mentions Assemblies!

We hope you enjoy looking at our page on the website and all the fantastic work we have produced.

Thank you

In English this term we are looking at the book 'Into the Forest' by Anthony Browne which is mainly a picture book with few words. The children will be writing poems based on certain illustrations from the book and writing their own familiar story. The children have already predicted what they think may happen in the story based on the front/back cover and some illustrations.

In Maths this term, we are looking a number and place value and looking at the worth of numbers up to 1000. The children will use Base 10 resources to help them partition hundreds, tens and ones. They will also begin to learn their 4 and 8 times tables, along with practicing ones they already know. Then they will move on to addition and subtraction and the different methods used to solve.
